Currently, I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville with a concentration in criminology.
In May 2024, I earned my PhD from the Department of Sociology at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. My research interests include policing, punishment, law and society, and social movements. My work has appeared in Law & Social Inquiry (the official journal of the American Bar Foundation), the International Journal of Criminology & Sociology, and The Oxford Handbook of Social Movements.
I study contemporary US police accountability efforts, including at the grassroots level. My dissertation examined the role of existing and potential insurance models for regulating police behavior and reducing misconduct.
When I'm not working, I enjoy playing drums and guitar, playing basketball, and attending concerts.
